  • Long time, no blog

Well, it's been ages since I've done anything on here.  I'll try to keep things updated, but you know how that goes.  :)

I graduated from college on May 10, and then I was offered a job in a very nice school district on May 19.  So, I'll be teaching 3rd grade at a great school!  It's all very exciting, but also weird to think that I'll be starting my career in a couple months.  God really worked things out for me.

I made a trip to Paris this month as well.  I was gone June 9-18 (just got back yesterday).  It was such an amazing trip!  I'll definitely post pictures soon, but I haven't even sized any of them down yet.

So, that's basically all that's going on right now.  Maybe I'll post again soon.

  • Yes, it has been ages and ages since I've done anything with my site (about a year and a half probably).  Just thought I would give you a little update on my life...

I'm currently in my last semester of college (aah!!).  I'm doing my student teaching in a third grade classroom, and I'm afraid I'm slowly falling in love with this age group.  I used to always say that I would only ever teach kindergarten, or maybe...MAYBE...first grade.  Well, now I'm thinking second or third grade.  I reckon I should figure this out so I'll know what I want to be looking for in a job.

When I last posted, I had a brand new nephew and another nephew on the way.  Well, those two are now both 1 y/o, and my niece is 2 y/o (3 in May), and my oldest nephew is 4 y/o (5 in March).  I still can't fathom how I'll love my own kids more than I love these four precious babies.  I know it's possible and will happen, but I just love them so incredibly much.

I spent this past summer at a Christian conference center (Ridgecrest Conference Center) in Black Mountain, NC.  Although I like only a few hours from there, I didn't come home once during the summer.  It was just an AMAZING summer.  I would've stayed there forever if I could.  I was planning on going back this coming summer, but I was given an opportunity to go to Paris in June, and since I'll be setting up my classroom that summer as well, I felt that it would be too stressful to spend the summer in the mountains again.  I will be visiting though!  I can't wait to go back and hike my heart out.  That was my outlet this summer - I would just go off by myself and hike the Rattlesnake Trail.  The view was absolutely breath taking, and it was amazing how quiet up there, yet still deafening when you just sat and thought about God's glory.  Man, I miss that!

Here are a few pictures from the hikes I took this summer.  Not the best pictures, but still pretty.  The flower was taken on the hike up - just a random "weed" flower on the side of the trail.

I reckon that's it for now.  My time lately is spent on school and teaching related stuff.  Sleep is becoming a very rare, yet extremely necessary, luxery for me.

I'll try to post more often.  People probably don't even read this anymore, but hey - doesn't hurt anybody to post, I reckon.

  • So, it was an interesting day at the daycare today...

I was working with the afterschoolers, and Mrs. Patsy came in saying that Ms. Mary in the 2 y/o needed help b/c she had a sick kid..so I ran back there, and sure enough, poor little ole Mason had gotten sick everywhere.  Sooo...I sit with the kids while Ms. Mary gets the vacuum, and I eventually start cleaning up the whole mess.  Well, Mason still didn't feel too great, so I told him he could sit on my lap while I cleaned...and uh...while I'm vacuuming his previous "sickness", he gets sick again while he's on my lap, so I start to vacuum that up too.  lol  It was definitely interesting.  Poor kid...we couldn't find his change of clothes or anything.  I felt horrible for him.  I just put some overalls on him that we found that were like...two sizes too big...and rolled the legs up.  He looked adorable with no shirt on and those overalls.  My heart broke for him though...when I left for the 3 and 4 y/o, he was lying on his naptime mat waiting for his mommy to pick him up.  (Needless to say, I ran home before BCM so I could shower and not smell like throw up anymore...fun stuff, eh?)

Sooo...I went to the 3 and 4 y/o after I left there, and stayed in the 3 y/o classroom.  These kids, to say it nicely, have a LOT of energy.  lol  I love 'em to death, but they're just so crazy sometimes.  Well, I was reading them some books at one point, and I look over, and Madison is over in a corner doing something, so I call her over to see what was wrong.  She comes over, and I can tell that she has something in her mouth, so I ask what it is...and she locks her lips TIGHT, and then swallows.  I about had a whole heard of COWS!  I was like, "Mat-Mat!!!  WHAT did you swallow?!?!?!"  And she says something...I thought she said bug...but then I understand that she said block.  I was like, "".  She swallowed a LEGO BLOCK!!!  I was like, "What do I do?!  What do I do?!"  Half of me wanted to just laugh b/c it was a little humorous, but the other part wanted to reach down her throat and pull it out so her mommy wouldn't get mad.  lol  Sooo, I ended up writing an accident report about it (it was odd saying that the "accident" was a child swallowing a lego...but hey...whatever works, I reckon lol), and I told her mom when she came to get her.  I was like, "I didn't know if you'd want to take her to the doctor or whatever........but I'm sure it'll come out eventually."  lol  She was just like, " Why does she do this stuff?!"

...Ooooh, the joys of working at a daycare.  lol  God's really shown me lately why I work there.  It's all for the kids and their development.  I can't seem to get enough of kids...I just love them so incredibly much.
